We invite you to comment on these nominations. Please click on a title of a book that you wish to discuss and you will come to a discussion page. Click the tab that says "Edit this page" and begin typing your comments. Please include your name and library-if you only want to put your first name, that's fine. After you have finished, hit "Save." We especially welcome your input in terms of whether you think the book will appeal to teens in grades 9-12, or 7-8, whether it appeals to boys and girls, and how it compares to other works of the same genre. If it is part of a series, please say whether you think the book stands alone. Also, please let us know if you think it should or should not be on the "final 10" nominated list.
In the past, the selection committee has chosen to include titles that also appear on the Isinglass list. The committee recognizes that a book can appeal to both age groups.

UPDATE: As the Flume and Isinglass committees (and wikis!) are being combined, I am marking each book with an F and/or an I to designate whether (according to reviewing media) it appears to be most appropriate for the Flume, the Isinglass or both. Feel free to add your own comments! -Katherine

    Warcross
Sci-fi thriller. I didn't get past the first chapter of this - it reads like an action movie, and I don't like that type of book. Nor do I have an interest in video games. Basically, just not the book for me. However - I passed it off to my 12 year old son (in 7th grade) who *loves* it. He's obsessed, and talking about the story nonstop. I'm going to be hearing about how he can't wait for the sequel for the next year. He asked me to renew it at the library so he can reread it a few times. This is a series opener, and reviews say it ends on a cliffhanger. Should have a wide range of appeal, and Marie Lu is already a popular author. Main character is a 17 year old girl, but has appeal for boys as well - my son usually refuses to read "girl" books and he devoured this. Starred reviews in PW and Kirkus.
